DevOps Engineer III · Charter Communications
Full-stack DevOps engineer building internal platforms, AI-powered tooling, and cloud infrastructure at scale — currently driving mobile device platform engineering at Charter Communications.
About
I'm a DevOps Engineer III at Charter Communications based in Colorado, with a background that runs from full-stack application development through hospital IT implementations and into cloud infrastructure and platform engineering. That path wasn't accidental — each step was a deliberate move toward the layer of the stack that interested me most.
At Apollo Enterprise Imaging I started writing clinical software, then chose to move into implementation work — partnering directly with hospital IT teams on secure network configuration and on-site deployments. That hands-on exposure to real infrastructure sparked a deeper interest in hosting, automation, and cloud operations.
At Charter I build internal engineering platforms, manage multi-environment AWS infrastructure with Terraform, and lead AI adoption across engineering teams. Open to senior DevOps, platform engineering, or cloud architecture roles — remote or hybrid.

Charter Communications · Mobile Device Platform Engineering
Leading development of PlatformUI, Charter's internal observability and Root Cause Analysis platform built to unify log data across a wide variety of team-specific data sources into a single interface. Engineering teams across Charter — each operating in different areas with different tooling — use PlatformUI to search, correlate, and trace workflow logs end-to-end, giving everyone a shared view of where device entitlement and provisioning workflows succeed or break down. Architected the full-stack application — Angular frontend on S3/CloudFront, Node.js/Express backend on AWS Lambda behind API Gateway. Authored Terraform to provision the underlying AWS infrastructure and built GitLab CI/CD pipelines that deploy it consistently across DEV, SIT, and PROD in multiple AWS accounts.
Administers Linux EC2 instances running inside Auto Scaling Groups that serve as reverse proxy servers connecting external vendors to Charter's internal network — managing nginx, Datadog log forwarders, and custom services across each instance, with hands-on incident response and cross-functional troubleshooting.
Driving AI adoption across Charter engineering through tooling workshops, a monthly internal newsletter, and an AI-powered chatbot for PlatformUI built on AWS Bedrock and SageMaker using RAG architecture and LLM fine-tuning.

Apollo Enterprise Imaging Corp. · Fort Collins, CO
What began as curiosity during hands-on hospital implementations evolved into a full pivot toward cloud infrastructure — becoming Apollo's first AWS-certified engineer and leading the team's transition to a cloud-hosted platform. Architected and migrated the on-prem enterprise imaging platform to a HIPAA-compliant AWS environment (VPC, EC2, RDS, S3), and was among the earliest adopters of AWS health-specific services — including AWS HealthLake and AWS HealthImaging — for medical imaging and EHR workflows. Centralized log aggregation using Graylog and OpenSearch, configured secure hybrid networking (VPNs, DNS, domain trust), and deployed DICOM interface servers across hospital networks.

Apollo Enterprise Imaging Corp. · Fort Collins, CO
Joined Apollo as a software developer building Angular front-end features for a clinical imaging platform sold to hospitals. When an opening appeared on the implementation side, the choice to move was deliberate — a recognition that the problems that mattered most weren't in the codebase, they were in the infrastructure. As an Implementation Specialist, partnered directly with hospital IT teams to design secure network environments, establish remote access, and manage the full deployment and ongoing support of Apollo's platform across hospital systems. Provided 24/7 production support and troubleshooting. That exposure to real-world servers, networking, and systems operations became the foundation for everything that followed in cloud engineering.

Recommendations
He's pursued AWS certifications on his own, attended AWS re:Invent with our development team, and consistently worked to expand his knowledge in modern cloud technologies. His curiosity and willingness to dig in and learn new tools make him an excellent candidate for any team looking to grow their cloud or DevOps capabilities.
Shawn gained several licenses and certifications through AWS and cloud infrastructure. He was an essential player in our move towards cloud compute and S3 storage. The explosive growth of his knowledge around AWS Cloud was really amazing to see — his understanding of the entire process around ingesting and storing data on the cloud was incredibly impressive.
